چکیده

Background: Cyclophosphamide (CPA) induces acute inflammation of the urinary bladder, renal damage, and liver thereby limiting its therapeutic use. Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate hepatorenal toxicity induced by cyclophosphamide amelioration 5-fluorouracil in male albino rats. Materials Methods: Twenty-eight adult rats were grouped randomly into four groups (n=5 for each group). Group I (control): Rats injected with saline intraperitoneally at a dose 1.0 ml/kg b.w. 14 days. II (CPA): 10 mg/kg day through i.p. III Fluorouracil (5-FU): 5-Fluorouracil was given IV (CPA+5-FU): CPA followed 5-FU per (day day) At end experimental period, anesthetized using light ether. Blood samples taken prepared biochemical measurements. Results: Serum total protein, albumin, globulin concentration significantly reduced animal that received cyclophosphamide. combination changes compared treated group. A significant increase LDH serum found CPA, 5-FU, their combination-treated animals. mean values chemotherapy above treatment. Administration resulted AST, ALT, ALP, bilirubin control. Co-treatment attenuated when – Compared controls, urea creatinine levels increased CPA-treated rats, while uric acid combination. produced restored 5-FU. Conclusion: It could be concluded treatment mammals is associated production free radicals lead hazardous alterations parameters. However, produce most cases these changes, it may considered as potentially useful candidate combat oxidative stress-mediated non-target organ injury even if not complete protection. Future work should consider combined regimens, two or more mechanisms action chemotherapeutic drugs powerful than one mechanism. Toxicological studies must performed before application. Further research required on toxicological impacts pollutants mixtures.

Pharmacokinetics of 5-fluorouracil and cyclophosphamide in depression rats.

OBJECTIVES Efficacy and toxicity of the drug are mainly determined by physicochemical properties and pharmacological effects of its own. In addition, they are also affected by other factors, such as gender, age, genetic character, pathophysiological status, mood states and so on. The paper aims to study whether mood disorder alters drug metabolism process through the pharmacokinetic research on...

Assessement of Reproductive Toxicity Induced by Deltamethrin In Male Albino Rats

Introduction: Pyrethroids are important insecticides because of their high activity and low mammalian toxicity. Some studies have demonstrated that these insecticides, especially compounds with an -cyano group, produce toxic effects on various biological systems. Deltamethrin (DTM) is a Type II synthetic pyrethroid insecticide containing -cyano group and is used worldwide in agriculture, ho...

The possible protective effect of L-arginine against 5-fluorouracil-induced nephrotoxicity in male albino rats.

5-fluorouracil (5-FU) is a potent antineoplastic agent used for the treatment of various malignancies. The L-argininenitric oxide (NO) pathway involved in the pathogenesis of chemotherapy induced kidney damage. This work investigated the beneficial mechanism of L-arginine supplementation in 5 FU induced nephropathy. Eighty male Wistar rats were divided into four equal groups: Control group; L-a...

Protective Role of Adansonia digitata Extract Against Glyphosate-induced Hepatorenal Toxicity in Adult Male Wistar Rats

Background: Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide, and it poses numerous health risks to the environment and living organisms. This study aimed at assessing the protective role of Adansonia digitata (A. digitata) on glyphosate-induced hepatorenal toxicity in a Wistar rat model. Methods: Twenty-five rats were randomly divided into five groups of five animals each. The first group did not...
